Your Exclusive-Use Weekend Timeline
Our weekend structure is designed to give you a relaxed, unhurried experience from start to finish:
- Friday (Arrival & Set Up): Check-in opens from 4:00 PM. This is your time to decorate the hall, set up your DIY elements, greet your staying guests, and host a relaxed night-before gathering.
- Saturday (The Big Day): Your wedding day! Your chosen suppliers can arrive as early as needed.
- Sunday (Extend the Celebration): No need to rush away. Enjoy a lazy morning-after brunch, host a casual garden BBQ, or simply relax on the lawns with your favourite people. You have the venue for the whole evening!
- Monday (Departure): Check-out is by 10:00 AM.
Our Role on Your Wedding Day
While Hargate Hall is yours to enjoy in total privacy, we are here to ensure your day runs smoothly behind the scenes.
General Assistance: We live nearby and are always available if you or your suppliers have any questions about the facilities during your stay.
Ceremony Support: We will be on hand during your ceremony to coordinate your entrance music, greet the registrars, and manage guest flow.
Saying Your Vows: Ceremony Options
Hargate Hall is fully licensed for civil marriages and civil partnerships. You have complete flexibility over where you say “I do”:
Important Note: You must book the registrars yourself. Please contact the Derbyshire Registrars Team as soon as your date is confirmed to secure your ceremony time.
The Main Hall: A grand, traditional indoor space featuring our beautiful staircase—perfect for your grand entrance.
The Traditional Marquee: Available for larger celebrations, offering a fantastic blank canvas that seamlessly connects to the main building.
Food, Drink & Suppliers: Total Freedom
We are a strict “dry hire” venue. We provide the stunning backdrop, and you have complete control over your day:
Our Trusted Directory: If you need a starting point, visit our Hargate Suppliers Directory to find local suppliers who know our venue inside out.
No Corkage Fees: Bring your own champagne, wine, beer, and soft drinks. We do not charge anything for storage or corkage.
Choose Your Own Suppliers: You are welcome to use any outside caterers, florists, stylists, and entertainment you like.

Information for your Guests

Timings etc
All standard bookings run from 4pm on a Friday to 10am on a Monday (3 nights). Where possible we will always try to let you get in earlier. Contact us the week before to see what is possible. People arriving, and us still cleaning don’t mix, so please don’t arrive before any agreed time. The same applies to deliveries. They need to be arranged for when you are here.
On the Monday we will start cleaning from 9am in apartments that have been vacated already and/or the marquee.
Accommodation and extra nights
We often get requests for extending the weekend stay for certain apartments either before or after the wedding weekend. Typically this price for this will vary depending on the apartment and time of year but in the interests of simplicity we will fix this at £40 for a 1 bed apartment, £60 for a 2 bed apartment and £80 for a 3 bed apartment. These prices are per night and on the assumption that no extra cleaning or bedding is required. You can either ask us to book you in or book online. If booking online, we will manually adjust the prices afterwards.
If any of you want to stay for a few nights at any other time, whether before or once you are married, book yourselves in online. Then when use the voucher code “weddingcouple2024” and it will give you a discount of 20% off. This code can be for any booking, as long as the arrival date is within 3 months of the booking date.
Terms and Conditions, cancellations and insurance
Our full wedding Terms and Conditions can be found here which covers all the usual things including damage and cancellation. to protect against both of these you should consider wedding insurance. On this, things to consider are marquee – are you having it, length of cover – just the wedding day or the whole weekend, and scope of cover, just your booking with us or all suppliers as well. The company recommended by our insurance broker is Events Insurance as they offer a good bespoke policy www.events-insurance.co.uk, though there are many others who might suit your specific requirements.
